Daughters Afghan

My daughters afghan is finally finished! It seemed to take forever to tuck the ends and snip them. If found a few places where there were squares not fully connected, so I had to remedy that and one somehow began to unravel, so that was fixed as well.

My daughter proudly put it on her 🛏 bed, we discussed that I put the squares the same way and of course she found the one I didn’t fix after affixing it wrong. She told me that was the uniqueness about it. That was sweet but it bugs me. Lol

This is my daughters way of modeling with the blanket. 😂 🤦🏼‍♀️ teens *shrugs*

Lentils recipe…my way

I saw a recipe for lentils and liked most of it, minus the soy sauce, but adding a few more ingredients.

It was called Canal House Lentils recipe, but I made it my own.

Sauté leeks (that are chopped how you like and cleaned well), minced garlic, and chopped mushrooms in butter.

After about 5 minutes or so, add a tablespoon of tomato paste and sauté for a few.

Add a cup of lentils and 2 1/2 cups water and simmer until done. The directions say 45-55 minutes, mine didn’t take 30, Im still getting used to my stove.

Due to the over doneness of the lentils I added cream and a cup of cooked barley (cooked in 2 cups chicken stock until it adsorbed it all) to add depth and flavor.

I had seconds. Adding some cooked chicken would make it a whole meal.

Another WIP in Progress

I’ve been working on this afghan for my daughter. It was supposed to be to help her anxiety with our move. Our move was this past September and I kept talking with her and a few things I said to her and her new school helped her get over her anxiety, this time.

But Im still working on the afghan and now her kitty 🐱 decided that my lap was the nap spot to be right now. 😉

Plarn

The first stages of making plarn, yes I did say plarn….yarn made from other medias. I will be helping the homeless with this. I would love any help from anyone if you’d like to help out.

Im going to be crocheting mats for the homeless. If you would like to make some and give them out where you are, that is awesome!! If you want to donate grocery bags to me, or whatever you can think of, that is Awesome!!

Essential Oil Hair Perfume

This is something else I will be making soon but for myself. Lavender will not be in my mix, Sandalwood most likely won’t either.

Hair perfume is a great way to leave those you pass by with the sweet and enticing aroma of essential oils. Lightly spray it on your hair to keep it smelling sweet and fresh. Feel free to switch up the essential oils used in this recipe to create your perfect aroma.

Ingredients

⅓ cup rose water

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

5 drops Ylang Ylang oil

4 drops Rosemary oil

5 drops Sandalwood oil

3 drops Lavender oil

4 drops Grapefruit oil*

Note: You can purchase rose water at most health food stores (the Vitamin Store is a good example) in the soap and hygiene aisle.

Instructions

1 In fine-mist glass spray bottle, add rose water, vanilla extract, and essential oils. Add more or less essential oils depending on your preference.

2 Shake and spray on hair as desired.

*Please note that citrus essential oils are photosensitive and can lighten your hair if exposed to UV rays.

*Also please note, use and storage of your essential oil mixes are best in dark glass.
